I have been told a few times that the measures that we are proposing would add ten minutes -or eight minutes to trips. Here is the facts -check them out yourself if you question them.

Safeway Trips

Mount Royal Station to Elbow Safeway via Hillcrest - 2 minutes 30 seconds.

Mount Royal Station to Elbow Safeway via 8th ,17th and 5th - 4 minutes 24 seconds. (Only 2 minutes more -but I admit they feel long)

Elbow Safeway to Station - via Hillcrest - 3 minutes 2 seconds.

Elbow Safeway to Station - via 8th Street - 4 minutes 22 seconds.

Station to 8th Street Safeway - 3 minutes 8 seconds.

Downtown

This should make no difference. You have to remember that when 5th is two way -you are going to pick 8th street simply because the rest of the city is going to be trying to squeeze into the single lane of 5th. So you will use 10, 11th or 12 Ave to get over to 8th and then enter Mount Royal via the community collector (ie: how the original planners intended you to enter Mount Royal)

Marda Loop

You can still get to and from Marda Loop or William Ried School -it will just take 30 seconds longer.
